Georgia’s Black Sea city of Batumi won the award of world's leading all-season destination 2024, the tourism Oscar, at the 31th World Travel Awards held in Madeira.

Batumi competed with cities such as Melbourne, Oslo, Geneva, Munich, Aspen, Beijing and Whistler to win the prestigious award.

Kristine Dzidziguri, the Deputy Head of the Adjara Tourism Department, noted that this recognition had contributed to the popularisation of Batumi and was raising its awareness worldwide.

“Batumi is constantly developing, the Adjara region has a diverse range of tourism products that are attractive as a tourist and investment destination throughout the four seasons. This naturally does not go unnoticed. This award is important in order to build greater trust in our city among visitors and investors. This recognition contributes to the popularisation of our city and is raising its awareness worldwide. I congratulate Batumi and our country on another prestigious award and international recognition”, Dzidziguri said.

Graham Cooke, the founder and President of World Travel Awards, congratulated Batumi on its victory and noted that Georgia was a country that, with its climate, hospitable people, and tourism potential, had moved from a growing destination to a leading position.

“This is a country that, with its climate, hospitable people, and tourism potential, has moved from a growing destination to a leading position. Congratulations to everyone on this success. Travelers are looking for new things – adventure or wellness tourism, the country’s cultural and historical heritage, natural resources, and most importantly, the people – who are Georgia’s greatest asset. Your country is characterised by outstanding hospitality and exceptional cuisine”, Cooke said.
